Yeah loong time no see, i know.
a) We've been busy. what with mids, then assignments n vivas then quizzes, the forthcoming FYP presentation (abt which, btw, evrybdy seems to be totally cluless...including our project supervisor...) and what not.
b) We've been lazy. yeah, i know, coming from a major victim of ADD, ds sounds funny bt all i seem to want to do these days is either sleep or...urm....or.... well, thats all i really want to do these days. Sleep!
c) Nuffin's been happening. its jst not us, bt post eid (s), nffinz really happend at uni worth blogging about. except the very mundane evryday stuff...
Come Oct/Nov/Dec.... and every single day you find yourself wishing birthdays n celebrating. Thank God for FB, now i don't need to spend half of my life apologizing to people for forgetting to wish em. same goz 4 zaf. I finally got A Case Of Exploding Mangoes as a birthday present from friends...:-D (brilliant novel, btw.) Since then, we've celebrated noman's, waqas's and awais's birthdays. Oh, and we've shifted from cakes to pastries now. Less messy and more eco friendly.
Helpful Note on b'day celebrations: when u shove cake down someone's throat, make sure they don't bite you. it's not cool.
As if life at UET wasn't bad enough....the clouds opened up and God said," Maryam, I hate you." and He chucked the meanest, creepiest, lamest 05 guys as TA's right on top of us.
(If you will sh*t me in class, i will sh*t you on my blog haha.... )
Tradionally, i've sucked badly at vivas. Throw a simple question at me (What day is it?) but throw it randomly, and you've lost me. And, trust me, me n zaf carry a bad, bad jinx. Any piece of equipment within a one meter radius of us refuses to function as expected. Call it Murphy's Law of Maryam-and-Zaf-The-Anti-Machine-Bitches.
Murphy's Law of Maryam-and-Zaf-The-Anti-Machine-Bitches:
If a machine will not crash even if you run it down with a truck, Maryam and Zaf will be able to crash it with their mere presence in the same room.
Teachers are genuienly baffled by this anomaly but we are pretty used to it now. Today we completed our microwave manual before anybody else and i nearly died with surprise. (Come to think of it, it just might have been because we weren't alone.... sahar was with us...hmmm. thats why..!!!) Predictibly the teacher refused to believe the ingenuinity of our work and and we had to revert to our you-frigging-think-we-frigging-bother-to-frigging-lie-to-you-!!! tones to force him to grade us. He still looked unconvinced later on but he dare not take us upfront and i harassed him into shutting up. Reminds me, he graded me really low on the assignment although it was the exact copy of (ok, not exact, but pretty much same as) zaf's, who incidently got full credit. What the...?! I wudda raised hell but i've got far more serious problems going on right now. Like a gpa which if my mom dear comes to know about, she's gonna disown me, and thats for starters. And an acute inability to memorize the impossible terms in Networks. And a major back log of Microwave...(holy crap...i got a quiz tomorow and i have NOT the faintest idea exactly how i am gonna be able to cover the 3-msgs long course content noman has just texted me....)
The last ten or so lecs of microwave (yes, we've had just that many microwave lecs lately..!!) have been Greek to me. I mainly spend my time in class either texting or laughing at the funny hairstyles of people or catching up on my sleep. When my guilty-as-hell conscience does manage to nudge me i just copy out what ever zahra zulfiqar has been studiously jotting down all through the lecture. Don't blame me.... listening to the microwave teacher is just about as interesting as watching a mosquito sleep. And there is just so much my ultra short attention span can hold...!
And I'm not even thinking about DSP. Oh, and it happens to be the only subject in which i apparently got an A in the mid. There is something almost sickeningly funny about it.....
And will somebody please tell me exactly why we are studying Operating Systems..?? I mean apart from the geeks and nerds and irritating know-it-alls, the whole course, and the teacher, is just going nowhere. Once upon a happier time, we used to have regular labs, now they are gone too. The whole thing is a goddamn joke. One that has stopped being funny.
Well, well. have i been complaining a lot?? There's more.
On Dec, 5th, Saturday night, UET IBM freshies arranged a welcome bonfire for themselves. Had a friggin party!! Anyone rem that quiz we had in the name of a welcome?? I shudda known then, my social life was about to be mercilessly finished.
Congrats to da EE team, and esp to all my friends who played on it, for beating the crap out of mechanical at football.
*BIG ROAR OF APPLAUSE*
