RUMOUR MILL

So one of the interesting feature of 7th sem has been the insanely and i mean insanelyy hot gossip/rumours..now my experiance and i can safely vouch for mrym too,we come to knw about stuff really late...according to ppl this is bcoz we are really oblivious to thngs around us,mast and live in our own little bubble..but alot of times we do keep pace with the time.as far as i m concerned i am not an actively social person and hav limited no. of frnds out of my immediate frnds..but still i do get my hands on some news..there ws a time when i used to get new gossip every thursday but that was alot of semesters ago..good ole days.


mrym tends to get a good amount of gossip thanks to her 'other' frnds..and these other frnds of her hav something against me becoz they hav the audacity to tell her kai "zaf ko na batana"!!..i mean seriously!..anyways i like to believe that mrym DOES tell me most of the stuff if not everything..so that is one of the rezns i dnt hav a soft spot for her 'other' frnds.


ZZ has alot of scandalous rumours/gossip at her disposal too but there are times when her story is half-baked or the key issue gets lost in the extremely detailed story.she sure has a panache for detail.
and as far as the guys are concerned.sometimes they bring stuff on the table which we are not anticipating at all..


coming back to rumours most of the rumours are based on the following topics e.g


-who is interested in whom

-who is hitting on whom

-who actually did hit on whom

-who is hooking up with whom

-who is in virtuality with whom..(for virtuality consult previous posts)

-the evergreen phaddas among ppl

-the real story behind the phadda

-the real real story behind the phadda

-image recreation (both frm left to right and right to left)

-young stud muffin teacher rumours (cant get enuf of that)

and lastly those damaging rumours which the whole university knws about,but talks about in a really hush hush tone..


so i do hear alot of rumours about other ppl..and in between i hear some rumours about myelf too..in the beginning when i cam here there ws a guy (nt of elect dept) who told me or rather warned that alot of rumours r circulating about me,turns out he (though he vehmently denied hs involvement) so hs frnds were involved in rumour spreading business too and well i ws pretty naive back then..(though not much better now either).

now the rumours mostly heard in uet are the sort of rumours which are most easy to create and spread really quickly too..and those r...which 2 ppl are a 'thing' or in crude term 'hookin up'.which brings me to another point that there is not even a single legitimate-by-all-standards couple in our class i.e former sec D!!,hell there is not even a single couple in whole 06 elect!.and i m talkin about those public couples everyone knws about,or there is a really strong chance that they r sumthin.there can be alot of lets keep it private couples but even when u hear sumthin about them u r not sure if its yet another rumour or is it for real.

now since this is the final year,lets see whether we get to hear about any marriage proposals..coz well i heard that ppl do tend to propose in final year.actually i already have heard about a couple of marriage proposals,not divulging into details but the proposal went flat before it even had a chance to truly blossom.so now hoping for a successful marriage proposal.we r actually starting a secret bet pool,u cn bet on ppl who will be proposing in final year (anyone interested!)

ok so now i m diverting from the topic..so thats it for now,u cn place ur bets (not kidding)...to all the rumour sources thanx for making uninteresting ppl suddenly noteworthy and letting us gossip about them (gossiping isnt a sin u knw,who m i kidding 'sigh')..and lastly goodluck to all the people who are planning to DO sumthin in the final year,cz well u need all the luck in the world.

UNIVERSITY AGAIN (other side of the story)

ok so 2nd last semester.i chose different subjects.i was really happy about the choice bcoz for the first time i actually thought that i mite get a good gpa (wishful thinking) but still...so everyone knows the usual story..me and mrym both dnt like to go to uni,dint want our hols to end and...so on.so i enter the dept,the lobby is loaded with people.i already knw that my section is different coz of the mixed subject thing but i m still hoping that i mite hav classes wid mrym and the guys..but then my hopes got shattered.and instead i had all my classes wid section A.

so mryms first 2 lecs wer with sir zubair and i was free.those 2 hrs wer one of the worst new semester first day experiance..first i sat in lobby,then i went to gcr,then i went to mumtaz lib,then i again went to lobby but all seats wer occupied,again went to mumtaz lib,after a while again checkd lobby still seats occupied,so finally back in mumtaz library.so i kept roaming between mumtaz lib,gcr and lobby for about an hour!!..now in third period telecom ppl are free but i hav dsp class with sir kauser..but he dint come now sec E had only one sec D girl apart frm me and all other girls wer of sec A...sec D guys must hav been 8 or 9...to tell the truth sec A girls are really friendly but its jst difficult to make new frnds at this stage..

so no dsp lec and i m free now.waqas and ad wer having their high voltage lab so i waited for like 15-20 min for them in main block..(coz i cudnt walk alot in my new shoes or clothes :D)..nyways sat wid my frnds for awhile and tried to figure out if they r missing me or not and then they had OS.i tried to attend the OS lec but it was pretty boring so left the class..the moment of the day was when i accidently said DNA loudly while the OS sir was passing..i hope he is not reading but he is cald DNA apparently..so the first day was boring and tiring but i still wasnt thinkin about changing my section yet.i thot that with time i mite settle in but hate to admit it i missed hangin out with my frnds.

the 2nd day i had my labs and my PSA lec too...my class was wid sec D.honestly there r way too many students in power and i mean way too many..!!.there wasnt even space in class for ppl to sit..the teacher was ok nuthin much to write about hm...And while in differernt section most of the txting consisted of this...kahan ho?,free kab hona hai?,loby mai,farigh nahi hona!!,i m free,i hav a class,busy,or simply ????.

ok now the moment when i realized that i need to change my section was when i was in the dsp lab and despite talkin to other ppl i still felt lonely and though i knew that i can settle in my sec with time,i jst wasnt willing to make the effort..(wht an emotional outpour!)

so that day i decided to change my subject in order to get in sec B..not gona lie but i m still bummed about dropping psa for microwave..and if i get a bad grade in microwave i m gonna bitch about it in my heart (not publicly but i knw i wont be able to help it)..so i still sometimes thnk if choosing microwave is the rite thing or not but thats the way it is...initially i had decided on pure power,then changed it to mix and now comm...i really dint thnk that i wud go for comm,i was really hell bent on goin in power but well thngs dnt always turn out the way u plan them..

so now in sec B finally i.e telecom (uet ki c----- qaum!!telecom telecom) lol its kinda funny.no comments about fan club frm me!!!.Bcoz i believe that PPL CHANGE THEIR SECTION/SUBJECTS COZ THEY WANT TOO!!..on another note section B is really boring everyone jst studies all the time...and to my former section D i knw i wasnt kind in assessing u but i hav to admit u wer really alot better and fun then the present section...the only ppl who say 'bus' is well the girls.


good things about changing my section,frnds ofcourse and zz's scandalous gossip/rumours cant get enuf of it..and lastly today i attended my first microwave lec and widout a doubt it was a bigggg Snoozefest!!!..

nyways this is pretty much for rite now...and last thing ppl it wudnt hurt to follow us!!.

University Again

Seventh semster has started and is well into it's second week. Predictibly it felt perfectly horrible to have to come back, ruined my last weekend cz i wz bz mournin da end o hols.

Mondays have a tendency to be especially nasty, and when its the first monday after a 3 month long break it feels perticulaly bad. Following tradition me n zaf endured thru one of the worst first days back ever.

Awais picked me up in the morn, (late as usual) as i dint hav the heart nor the stomach to actually go on the route the very first day. It was raining nd since i hv a very specific aversion to rain (im a sun person inside out) it did nothing to improve my mood. Wz welcomed by the unwelcome sight of a crowd o ppl gathered in the dppt lobby (evrybdy pretending to figure out thr time tables from the notice board bt actually chkin out evrybdy elz, new hairstyles, new clothes etc etc). I felt too miserable to do nefin beside smiling n waving half heartedly at some of the familiar faces. Soon ran into a harassed zaf who furthur dampened my spirits by telling me we wr in diff sections nd wd hav none o r lecs togethr. Blow!!

First lec wz computer networks. Dragged my self into da class n plopped down wd ZZ. Thank gosh a friendly somebody wz in da same class. Noman n Awais cald me frm behind n lo n behold, Micheal's new haircut....!!! :D (that lifted my spirits...!!! u rock, mike! ) The lec itself wz boring. (i wish smbdy wd ban da use of slides by the teachers... thy r such a drag..i like a moving teacher.. rem dr. irfan?? nd it dint hurt he wz cute too ;-) ) I half slept,half doodled away the hour, nd thankfully the teacher let us off early.

Wasn't spozzd to take da DSP lab tht day, bt staying wd guys ( my mantra: guys r dumb) jams my brains too. So i stupidly followed them to da lab wdout first chkin wd my timetable. Thr a couple o odr *innocent* gals lyk me also sat, oblivious to the fact tht we wr not sppozed to be thr at al- it wz da odr half of the class's lab. Neway it turned out to be ok, the lab i mean. were let off early again n predictibly da young geeky guy calling himself r teacher told us he'd workd on da lab for barely a month nd he hoped to learn along wd us. (now y dz tht remind me o a certain charming somebdy *wink wink*......)

Wr free 4 an hour before OS now. Us frnds got togthr for a catch-up, da guys tellin me i lukd evn more ill tempered thn i normally do n id better do sffin abtit else it myt permanently disfigure my face. OS ws a disaster. i like C, n i noe it too, n i don need a teacher who mumbles or grumbles (take ur pick) to lead me thru C lyk a novice. Three fourth of the class walked out within da first 15 mins bt the teacher, God bless him, dint flinch. He bored us all for the whole o the two hours n i cd barely keep my eyes open at the end of it.

All in all, a bad, bad first day.

People had been harpin on abt da DSP prof, the seniors sayin he ws one o da best thr wr, swearin by his brilliance bt personally i think tht genius by no means equates to gud teaching skills. The students in his first lec the next day, practically sat in awe of the great one. Oh, not that he's a bad teacher at all. we'v jst had one double lec so, frankly, cant say mch.

Microwave engg is dead boring too.What a surprize. I cdnt keep track of the lec at all, gud for u if u did. Microwave and Networks lab wr both one hour, intro affairs. the teachers dn seem tht bad either. They r both polite nd dn luk lyk thier main aim in lyf is to not give you an A. Fingers crossed.

Being in da same sec as the guys from C is both amusing n annoying. First it came as a shock

tht ppl wr actually answerin questions. For three years, D hd been the laziest imaginable crowd. We wd brazenly stare, glass eyed while the teachers wd try all tricks in da book to shake us all out of

our unholy trance. Answering questions was a taboo, especially if u actually knew the correct answer. So mostly the trend was, u let the teacher get into a hysterical state of frustration before some of the girls wd pluck the courage to answer. The art we perfected as a group, however, was to steer class discussions as far away from the actual topic as possible.We thrived on irrelevance.

Crash nd boom. Enter the nerds o C who ask questions they very well know the answer to, just to a) humliate the rest of the class or/and b) show off thier knowledge.

Ha, screw you, we don' care..!!

Zaf changed her subjects so tht thankfully, shez ended up in the same section as me nd im happily bk to enjoyin her sullen, attitude ridden company in class. I like ZZ a lot too, bt i cant tell her my cheap jokes. I hated being alone during free lecs (oh, i love da guys i hang out wd bt guys dn chk out guys - n wn thy do i do not wanna c it..!! - so i guess i missed the usual ogling that happens in the radius of 3~4 meters of wrever my pretty frnd is :-) ) So, goody good, shez back where I belong!

Her fanclub has been religiously following her around as she scurries from one section to another, n changes her subjects evry odr day. The poor kids r apparently terrible at makin up thr own minds abt wt exactly thy wana study so thy either ask her abt her latest/current/future prefrences or make thr own guesses abt wt she myt choose on good faith. (Note to the fanclub nd doz wd disturbingly similar ideas: listen guys, guess wt, she still aint goin out wd u. Trust me. ) I hav told her of havin a bit of fun by tellin them something else and doin something else and then to sit back n enjoy the show bt she has finally leant to distrust, and hence keep away from, my cheap shots. (That makes her boring, tho. Nebdy els interestd?? ) Still, gud to hav da love-struck lot bk in class. Id say, they r really not as dumb as they luk. Nobody could be.

Am missin waqas n adnan, who'v moved to da odr sec. :-( Don gt to c a lot o em nemor. Miss the

fun.

Woah woah. i hadnt meant to write so much. guess, will get bk after eid nw. ciao, n happy uet!!

p.s. Lukin 4 a copy of A Case of Exploding Mangoes by M. Hanif. The hardcopy is still expensiv n paperbacks havent come yet. Neone who could lend me..?? You cd borrow ds excellent Mossad non fiction im reading dz days (By Way Of Deception by C. Hoy and V. Ostrovsky), in turn.
